This exposition paper has two objectives.
The first is to identify key issues impacting on the financial wellbeing (FWB) of individuals in retirement, with a focus on the extent and sustainability of both individual and public financial resources. In doing so the exposition paper acknowledges that the experience of individuals within the community varies widely, depending on aspects such as gender and the individual’s ability to save within the accumulation phase of life. In particular, the exposition paper gives emphasis to the experiences of women who generally face greater challenges in this respect.
The second objective of the exposition paper is to provide insights into policy options, which can be used to achieve a broad based level of FWB for all citizens within the community.
