The Australian Centre for Financial Studies, Mercer and the Victorian Government will host a boardroom luncheon on Monday 22nd October, 2018 in Melbourne (11.45 for a 12noon start until 2pm), launching the results and findings of the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index (MMGPI) for 2018.
Since its inception in 2009 (with the Victorian Governments support), the MMGPI’s publication has been an important date in the calendar for the superannuation sector worldwide.
The Index assesses and compares retirement income systems around the world based on their adequacy, sustainability and integrity.
The annual report also makes specific policy suggestions to improve pension systems in each country and in 2018, 4 additional countries have been included – Hong Kong, Peru, Saudi Arabia and Spain.

- How would the Royal Commission impact on the super industry?
- Why the economics of scale are not being realised?
- With the wave of fund members moving into retirement and the introduction of the retirement covenant imminent – is this likely to become reality in the near future?
- How difficult would it be in practice to expend coverage by removing the $450 per fortnight minimum?
- Trends in household savings and debt
- The need for better integration between all pillars of the retirement system
