Financial System Inquiry Committee Member – Prof Kevin Davis to launch ACFS Funding Australia’s Future Stage 2 half-day Forums in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Melbourne – Monday 18th August, 2014
Sydney – Wednesday 20th August 2014
The Australian Centre for Financial Studies (ACFS) launched the Funding Australia’s Future project in late 2012 and is a landmark project that investigates the state of Australia’s financial system and its role in effectively serving the future needs of Australia.
The project is comprised of a series of reports authored by renowned researchers and supported by an impressive stakeholder group representing all areas of Australia’s financial sector, key policy makers and regulatory bodies.
The reports produced throughout this project are unique in that they represent the independent views of the authors but are supported by this well informed advisory group of practitioners and policy makers including the major finance industry bodies, large institutions, Treasury and the RBA.
The three papers of Stage 1 reviewed the infrastructure of Australia’s financial system and assessed the issues that are likely to affect the supply of and demand for finance in Australia in the medium to long term. The outcomes of Stage 1 largely pre-empted the issues being investigated in the Financial System Inquiry.
Stage 2 of the project asks how effectively the financial sector links the sources and users of finance for the benefit of Australian society and makes suggestions on areas in which the system could be improved.
The Funding Australia’s Future forums present an exclusive opportunity to share in the insights from stage 2 of the project with the authors and members of the Funding Australia’s Future stakeholder committee in interactive panel discussions on Business Finance, Household Finance, Financial Integration and Regulatory Structure.
Panelists include Authors and industry representatives from across: – Australian Financial Markets Association, Australian Securitisation Forum, ASFA, Financial Services Council, Finsia, Industry Super Australia; KPMG, Monash University and SPAA.
