Speaker – Ken Chapman, Head of Debt Capital Markets, ASX Ken will present on- Recent advances in the development of a retail bond market and key strategies for further reform and growth 1. Quotation of Australian Government Bonds on ASX 2. Key drivers for the development of a retail bond market 3. Current market structure and regulatory settings 4. Key strategies for reform and growth Synopsis Australian retail investors are finally able to access Government Bonds in a way that is familiar and as simple as buying and selling shares on ASX. Investing in Australian Government Bonds (AGBs) allows investors to diversify their risk and stabilise their investment return through a broader investment mix. Whilst, Exchange-traded AGBs provide an alternative to other interest rate investments such as cash or term deposits and for brokers, advisers and financial planners an opportunity to increase their advice and service capability across asset classes, there are still impediments to the market developing. This session will review key drivers, structural impediments and strategies to achieve a liquid retail corporate bond market.
